2026 GPF Events

Mark your calendars! We have events this spring, summer, and fall!

Join GPF and local municipal Health Agents for a Zoom presentation recapping the MV CYANO program and how it works and goes over the 2025 cyanobacteria monitoring results! After the meeting we will have a discussion and bring any questions you may have about the program, ponds, cyanobacteria and more!

Join Emily Reddington, Executive Director of Great Pond Foundation, to uncover why island ponds are the key to the island’s future. Come early at 4pm to enjoy drinks and light bites!

Join GPF and Slough Farm educators at Slough Farm to explore science through art! This tween program is targeted towards students between 11 to 15 years old. The spring session and science lesson will focus on the Nitrogen Cycle and how nitrogen impacts the Islands ponds. Students will be invited to create art that explores the nitrogen cycle, cyanobacteria, or other types of phytoplankton. Images of microscopic cyanobacteria from Island ponds will be provided for inspiration!

Join us to explore the life within Sengekontacket Pond! Critters will be caught and placed in buckets to touch and identify! This event is brought to you by Friends of Sengekontacket, Island Spirit Kayak, & GPF in support from Mass Cultural Council & MV Community Foundation.

Join GPF and Slough Farm educators at Slough Farm to explore science through art! This tween program is targeted towards students between 11 to 15 years old. The summer session will focus on Science Internships on Island. Building off a GPF intern’s comic book created in 2025, students will create their own comic page depicting their ideal day as an intern. The variety of internship opportunities on the island will be highlighted and GPF’s 2025 intern, Anna, will be invited to attend the event!

Join GPF and Lagoon Pond Association scientists to explore the life within Lagoon Pond! We will do two seine hauls, one before and after high tide. Critters will be caught and placed in buckets to touch and identify! This event is brought to you by Lagoon Pond Association and GPF in support from MV Bank, Mass Cultural Council, and MV Community Foundation.

Join GPF and Slough Farm educators at Slough Farm to explore science through art! This tween program is targeted towards students between 11 to 15 years old. The fall session will focus on farm practices that protect pond health. Students will be invited to create dioramas of a farm that uses practices that protect our water systems.
