2021 MV CYANO Maps and Data
In response to the rising incidence of cyanobacteria blooms and in recognition of the need for baseline monitoring data, the Great Pond Foundation (GPF) designed and initiated the Martha’s Vineyard Cyanobacteria Monitoring Program (MV CYANO). MV CYANO was started in 2021, and Year 1 included weekly monitoring of Chilmark Pond, Edgartown Great Pond and Tisbury Great Pond, and biweekly monitoring in Crackatuxet Pond. Maps from 2021 are found below as GIFs, where the image loops through each week’s map in chronological order. Each pond is linked to a data summary document with relevant data from the 2021 monitoring season.
The work for this pilot season was made possible through the financial support of Great Pond Foundation and Chilmark Pond Foundation and with the guidance of Island Boards of Health.
